127th Pittsburgh Annual Conference

The second sitting of the 2009 session of the Pittsburgh Annual Conference was a time of looking forward.

In the beginning moments:

·         John S. (Bud) Mitchell (Brooke Hills) was approved for ordination as an elder.

·         Shirley Elosh, Carol Forsythe, John Goodman II, Jeremy Olszewski and R. Clayton VanVerth were received as Conference Ministerial Candidates.

·         Rev. Forrest States was welcomed home to Pittsburgh Conference by transfer from the Genesis Conference.

·         John and Mary Kelley were recognized for their service on Friday afternoon, and a dinner in their honor was served in the fellowship hall at East Liverpool, First Free Methodist.

·         The evening service was the setting for the ordination service and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. A reception for the new members of Pittsburgh Conference followed the service.

Saturday morning :

·         Bishop Roller introduced“CACORKE” which translates to “Creating a Culture of Rapid Kingdom Expansion”. Christians do this by changing our expectation of the church, and beginning to “live the story and tell the story.”

·         Supt. John Kelley gave the “State of the Work” report.

·         Incoming Supt. James Jobes gave his “Vision Statement.”

·         Appointments were read.

·         Several changes in pastoral leadership take place this year, including:

·         Apollo – Forrest States

·         Bridgeport New Hope – Frances Powviriya

·         Brooke Hills – Bryce Grieco

·         Cove Run – Paul Eckenrode

·         Greensburg – Timothy Thunberg

·         Uniontown – Aaron Peternel

Prior to adjournment, pastors and lay delegates to the conference gathered to pray for our new superintendent,  James Jobes and his wife Karen.
